Moving Forward to go Back

Black history month is around the bin.
More of our brothers incarcerated in the pen.
Celebrating the advancement of some.
In comparison , the number seems like one
People not having enough to eat.
Watching our brothers get beat.
Preachers exploiting the poor.
Preachers supporting war.
Committing an undeniable evil,
selling death to our own people
Communities are full of gangs and drugs.
Litigation sweeps our youth under rugs.
Our youth are so rude
Their mothers are posting pictures of themselves half nude.
We won a fight, only to lose the war.
Too many of our people are less than poor.
Living upon government assistance
We fail to question this.
Watching the education system go down the drain.
Seeing this and not feeling an ounce of shame.
Losing touch with our roots.
