American Dream

Waking up in the morning
Afraid to answer my phone
Bill collectors don't allow me to rest
Work wages have my finances running backwards
Money disappears
This magic show needs to end
Struggling is all I've known
Swearing to get by
Bleeding to make a check
Working labor pools on my day off
If this is the American dream
Give me an American nightmare
Notices upon my door
It's getting too hard to live
Even in death
People still seek money
